Here we are, the last week before districts.  Where did the time go?

Tuesday- Senior night 4 pm vs Newaygo at MCC field.  Seniors will be honored in between games. 

Wed-Fri practice @ MCC field

Saturday- district game at North Muskegon.  Players should be there at 9am; game starts at 10 am.  Championship game at 2:30 pm.

Team banquet on Monday, June 12 beginning at 7:00 pm at Coach Jeff's house: 1935 Angler Ct.

Whitehall, 49461.  Watch for a food sign-up list.

Good evening everyone,

This week for WMCC Softball is another busy one.

Monday- practice, field location TBD on Monday morning; will send out a text alert to everyone.

Tuesday- game at Manistee, leave school at 1:30. Mrs. Bradford-Royle will have food for the girls at school before we load up to eat on the way to Manistee.

Wednesday- practice, hopefully at Hile field.

Thursday- game vs North Muskegon, hopefully at Hile field. I have a generator for food if we are at Hile.

Friday- game @ Holland Public leave school 2:15.

Season update: Things are going well.  The coaching staff has a plan and are sticking to it.  It's paying off as the girls are clicking really well right now.  We will be taking our practices up a notch to further be prepared to achieve our goals. Thank you for your support and encouragement.

Further details for week of May 1-6

Hello parents, this is a reminder that we now are changing over to Hile field starting with tomorrow's practice. Practice times will still be 3:30 -5:30. 

In the event of weather like we are experiencing these past couple of days field condition will play a major part in where we will practice so please give me some grace on that. As of this morning when I left work, Hile field wasn't looking so hot but good news is that it is constantly being worked on to have it ready. 

Today's games vs OV are rescheduled for the 17th. 

Friday's game vs Ludington starts at 3:15 so we can get both games in before our three choir girls need to leave for their performance in Holland. So please if it's not too late go light on food as we won't have the usual time between games to eat.

Saturday, May 6, is the GMAA tournament. It is again in Holton; we play at 9am and 11am. Depending on how we do, the championship game is at 3pm. Please have your daughters there at 8am.

Lots of info thrown at you all; I appreciate all of the support.

Week of May 1-6

Good afternoon parents,

We have a busy week this week and we also switch field locations so here is our week:

Monday vs Manistee @ MCC field. Game time is 4:30 due to Manistee having AP testing

Tuesday vs OV @ Hile field

Wed / Thurs practice @ Hile field

Friday vs Ludington @ Hile field

Saturday is City (GMAA) tournament at MCC field. Don't know game times yet but it's at least a DH for us maybe 3 games depending on how we do. 

Now looking at the forecast...Monday and Tuesday doesn't look good. If it's not raining field condition will determine if we play and where. 

So the girls need to be prepared for indoor / outdoor stuff all week in case we get rained out of games. 

You can pray for the girls that are not feeling well or have sore bodies.

Week of April 24-29

This week for WMCC softball:

Home game Monday vs Godwin Hts @ MCC field

Tues/Wed practice at MCC field

Thursday DH @ Ravenna. Just a heads up: we may not have a van for this game. I haven't seen the transportation schedule as of 6:45 pm Sunday.

Really considering taking Friday off as of right now. We are going to have a lot of games the following week. We will have 2 DH back to back at the beginning and end of the week so I want to rest the girls heading into all those games. We may do something as a voluntary on Friday.

Please check the food schedule for these upcoming games starting with tomorrow's games.

Manistee rescheduled

Our home game vs. Manistee originally scheduled for this Friday, April 21, has been rescheduled for Monday, May 1.  The game will be played at Muskegon Catholic's field.  Please note this change on your schedules.

Week of April 17-22

Happy Easter everyone,

I hope everybody had a great day with church and family. 

This week is only one DH as of now. We are going to Ludington on Tuesday. Friday's game is going to be rescheduled. As soon as I know the date I will pass it along. 

As far as driving to Ludington, we will meet at the Speedway station on M120 with the school van for everyone that lives north or east of school so the girls won't have to go all the way back to school to get their vehicles. With my truck and the school van we can get everyone including the MCC girls and exchange students if needed. 

Weather looks good until Wednesday and Thursday when there is 40% chance of rain. So those days the girls need to plan for both inside and outside practice. 

I was happy with last weeks games; big difference between Tuesday and Thursday as everyone contributed on Thursday. If we keep that up good things will happen.

Fundraiser at Northpointe Christian - April 13

From Northpointe Christian: 

Our Thurs April 13 game with your baseball and softball teams will include a fundraiser for medical supplies for a clinic in Papua New Guinea. Two of our senior players have been working on the details.  During and after the games, food and t-shirts will be available for sale. Grilled hotdogs, chips, dessert, and a drink for $5 and t-shirts for $10. All proceeds will go to buy medical supplies for the clinic in PNG.  More information is available if you email Mikayla Clementz (clementzmi@npchristian.org) or Josh Nicholson (nicholsonjo@npchristian.org).

Week of April 10-15

Hello, families.

I hope this finds you all safe and sound after spring break. If you're not home from traveling yet, be safe.

Well, here we go with games.  We have three double headers this week, all away. 

Tues, @ Kent City

Thurs, @ Northpointe

Fri, @ Kellogsville

(Note that Friday is a half day for WMC.  Watch for departure time from school.)

I've asked Brandon Schmitt, Taylor's dad, to help with driving a school van, that, along with my truck should be able to get all the girls to the away games. Sanocki's and Heminger's, please let me know how you want to address the traveling with me so I know everyone is covered.

Monday is calling for rain but 60 degrees as well, so I will make the call via the text alert system if we are inside or out for practice.  If it's a slight drizzle to slightly rainy we will be outside as we still have lots to go over before Tuesday's game. 

Also if you haven't sent $20 to Sherri Bradford-Royle for team food please do so this week. And if you are a family that needs to do take care of the pay to play that needs to be taken care of Monday please. You can either give to me or the school office.

Week of March 27 2017

The weather forecast looks decent this week until Thursday so be prepared for outside practice at MCC for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

I'll make the decision for Thursday around 12-1 pm to say inside or outside via text alert.

Friday there is no practice as we head into Spring Break.  For those of you going away, have a fun and safe trip.  We'll have one more practice after Spring Break and then we play Kent City (away) on Tuesday, April 11.

Two other notes:
-If you haven't sent $20 to Sherri Bradford-Royle for team food, please do so and also look in your email for info from her on how to sign up for home game meals.
-We are still in need of someone to keep score for all our games.  We use an app called iScore.  This app calculates all our stats on the fly and makes it very easy to compile season stats at the end of the year.  The app requires a pretty good knowledge of the game.  Training will be provided.  Please contact Drew (616.485.7192) if you are interested in helping the team in this capacity.

Week of March 20

Welcome to the 2017 WMCC Softball season!

After a week indoors, we are eager to get outside.  We are hopeful for a couple days outside this week.

Monday and Tuesday will be outside at Muskegon Catholic's field (1145 W Laketon Ave, Muskegon, MI 49441) from 3:30-5:30.  The softball field is way in the back behind the baseball field.  If you are driving, you may drive your vehicle through the gate and back to the grassy area to park.  I will make a final decision when I get up and will do a group text to the girls and to the text alert system.  If we are inside, we will be at WMC from 3:30-5:00.

Wednesday looks much cooler so we will be inside at WMC (3:30-5:00).

Thursday and Friday look a bit warmer (Friday also looks wetter).  If we can be outside, we will be.  

A good rule of thumb this time of year is to be prepared for both indoor and outdoor practice.  That means having both gym shoes and cleats as well as clothing for outdoors (softball pants, sweatshirts).

Hopefully Wednesday I'll get the uniforms handed out.  As I hear more from Mr. Vanden Brand, I will let the girls know more about the uniforms.
